Mantra Of A Hanged Man

This is the mantra of a man at the gallows. Specifically Shadow, the protagonist of
Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, as he hangs from a very special tree, naked and alone.
In memoriam for his former employer, a god. He starves himself, is bound so that he is entirely immobile and has straight up been told he will not survive this course of action.

Why? Because he drank the mead, he made the promise and Shadow is a person who believes in doing what is right above all else.
